Why hasn't this gone any further than the Senate Judiciary since last year?  This is one that needs a big push to get passage before the November elections this year!  We can't allow any candidate running or re-running for office in this state to get the "illegal immigrant" votes by using illegal voter registrations, and by passing this bill, that would require anyone wanting to vote to have proper identification in order to vote.  I believe in that and I'd have no problem in showing my ID when I go to vote in the polls this November, so I don't see and legal implications in passing this bill.  It's for the good of the voters, and for the good of the state, so by passing this bill, RI could be the frontrunner for other states to follow.  Let's hope the Democrats in the Senate can understand that, and in the House, too.  It doesn't require any money, and it doesn't take away anyone's rights, either...I don't see any implications in my rights to vote just by having to provide my ID at the polls.  I have to show my ID at many other places, too, writing checks or cashing checks, using credit cards....it's just like that, so the legal ramifications of this bill are very minor if any at all.  We need big support for this, so if it needs to be redone again, contact the originators (Maselli and Walaska) to redo this again before November this year!

we have to show id for almost everything. why not to vote. it's probably the most important privilege we have. let's keep the illegales out of our voting booths. they seem to be everywhere else.
