This is LONG OVERDUE.  Teachers do not strive to improve or keep up standards of teaching and our children and the taxpayers suffer because of it.  We raised two children and saw great teachers until they get to the high school level where the grades count to get into colleges (which they both did).  However, they were not taught in a way, even though they were in accelarated college courses, to be able to survived in the higher education world nor were they taught the very basics of Math.  We were told this by the Dean of the West Point Prep School.  Our child was not taught the basic skills of Math and to tell the School Dept. this.  They laughed in my face.  The teachers were not even there most of the time.  She went on with tutoring at that leve to graduate West Point and serve in the Army until she left after 10 plus years of service as a Captain.

This is a lesson folks.................  Test the teachers as much, if not more, than the students.  The students can only learn as much as they are taught.  Pensions and more pay won't fix that.
